Brass Taxes Offers a Free Virtual Event for Artists & Freelancers to Make Doing Taxes Suck Less

For artists and freelancers, doing your taxes can be overwhelming. You start out pursuing your dreams, and because of the nature of how you are paid, you wind up becoming a business. The silver lining is that when you’re self-employed, you can deduct your expenses which ultimately benefits your bottom line. But how do you do it, and what counts as a business expense? That’s where Brass Taxes can help.

Brass Taxes wants to close the tax knowledge gap for artists and freelancers and help people make a living doing the things they love. This free, virtual Tax Talk will be held on Monday, March 14 at 6pm ET. Registration is required to receive a link.

Founded in 2008, Brass Taxes works with creatives, the self-employed, and people who just want to understand what’s going on with their taxes. Russell Garofalo, the founder, was a video editor, comedy writer, and performer when he started working with a tax professional and realized he was doing his own taxes poorly. He quickly found that many of his friends and acquaintances who worked as freelancers were, unknowingly, also messing up.

Now completely online, Brass Taxes has over 2,500 clients all over the US. Everyone at Brass Taxes has freelance experience, so we know what it’s like. We strongly believe that the person helping you with your finances should meet two criteria: they need to understand your industry and you should feel comfortable talking with them.

The goal of Brass Taxes is to offer a highly personalized tax experience and make doing taxes suck less. Whether it’s financial planning, back taxes, setting up an LLC, or just getting organized so you’re not freaking out all the time, Brass Taxes is here to help.
