SMFA at Tufts Offers Flexible Design and Illustration Certificates

Registration is now open for the School of the Museum of Fine Arts’ Continuing Education Summer Session courses. As an SMFA student, you’ll work with experienced artists/instructors who bring real-world expertise into the classroom, learning in an intimate setting that’s conducive to mentoring, collaborating, and networking. You can take up to four courses before formally applying to a certificate program, which is a great way to add career-relevant skills to your resume and get acquainted with our program.

All SMFA certificate programs end with a feedback-intensive Portfolio Preparation course to help you promote your talent, showcase your work, and accelerate your career. SMFA Graphic Design Certificate graduate Caroline Fallon says, “[My education was a] great experience with great professors who are willing to help, collaborate, and give you real-world insight and experience.”

SMFA is continuously evaluating and updating our course list to ensure we’re offering a contemporary education that presents learning opportunities that translate into a rewarding career in art or design and help you nurture and focus your artistic vision. Our most recent course additions are being offered in Summer 2021, including Design for Social Change, The Urban/Landscape Sketchbook, Self-Reflection in Monotype, and Children’s Book Illustration
